Officially a Candle Maker

The husband and I somehow ended up being off on the same Saturday last month - his fault that we work opposite Saturdays...not mine - and we stumbled across a small farmers market. Really small - like maybe 10 vendors or so, but still pretty cool little place. One of the vendors was a homemade candle maker. Of course we had to stop at her booth and smell at least a dozen candles. They all smelled pretty good so we picked out a few small ones and one big one. This girl's husband fell in love with the cherry almond scent and had to get a big one. I'll admit, it did smell really good, but $12 worth of good?... I don't know about that. Anyhow, the husband was so in love with the candle that he turned to me and said, "You have got to learn how to do this!" Well, okay! Challenge accepted. I was feeling a little beat down by the job (that I love of course, but sometimes...) and requested a couple of days off to regain my focus. I stopped by a local candle company - how lucky to have a candle supply company in the same city - that day. It's not a big place. I wandered around just looking and smelling the fragrances on the wall. Surely they could tell I didn't know what I was doing or even looking for exactly. Eventually, I asked for help and the ladies were the nicest, most helpful people ever! They sold me everything that I needed to make candles - a lot of candles at that! I left feeling confident that I could do it. Once I got home, I settled down at my desk and started reading about candle making to make sure I didn't mess anything up. After all, that starter set was not cheap. I didn't want to waste anything by making a mistake. After searching and reading everything that I could find, this girl had lost her confidence. I didn't want to try until I knew they would turn out perfectly. I made my way to pinterest - not sure what I was even looking for at the time - and I saw a pin that I found very motivating. It said "Just Start". I looked at that pin and thought what in the world am I doing? Get up and just start. So I did! I spent several hours that day making candles. I used half of my kit. Oh the house smelled so wonderful. And guess what? They turned out perfectly! I was so happy with my results. It was so therapeutic. I felt relaxed and stress free. It was great. I am so excited that I want to share my candles with others. I gave friends and family samples to hear their feedback and everyone loved them. I had so many great reviews that I have signed up for a craft fair next month! Here's to hoping this will be a great new and profitable hobby!!
Until next time...Good luck in all that you do and God bless!!
