Attack of the vanilla

Lately, this girl has been trying her hand at bath products. I really wanted to perfect my bubble bar unicorn horn recipe before my granddaughter's upcoming birthday party! They will make awesome party favors for her unicorn theme party! That is, if I can come up with a winning recipe! My first attempt was weeks ago and I used too much liquid. These suckers still aren't dry! They came out with a bit of a funny shape but they do smell great and make a ton of bubbles :)

I tried again this weekend as a project with my granddaughter and it turned out great! The consistency was more solid than the first time but still pliable. I chose a couple of awesome colors. We rolled them out, and twisted them up. They smelled great and were so pretty. They weren't consistently shaped but whatever - they are homemade afterall! We went to bed feeling quite proud of ourselves!

We woke up Sunday morning rushing to get dressed for church in time to eat breakfast at the diner - yeah...this girl doesn't cook on Sunday morning. I happened to check on our unicorn horns and "OH NO!!" they were so gross and ugly. They had turned brown overnight!

How could this have happened? I searched online and surprisingly found the answer pretty quick. The vanilla content in the fragrance oil killed my bubble bars :( I didn't think to check any of that but I chose a scent with 9% vanilla content. Ugh...but oh well I did learn something so that makes it all worth it! Learn from this girl's mistake and use a vanilla stabilizer to prevent your bath bubbles from turning brown!!
Until next time...Good luck in all that you do and God bless!!
